Hi, it's me again!

I hope you're having summer fun and are enjoying some good reads. I can't sit too long in the sun but I love how those warm rays feel.
Now that I'm retired I have lots of time for reading--the most since I was a kid. Between then and now I was able to read only what was required for school or work. Now I belong to two bookclubs that meet each month, and I read widely!

The downs and ups of reading

The downside: the decline of my eyes probably began when I was in third grade, reading by the hall light that fell through the narrow opening of my bedroom door. Though I was always told to turn out my light and go to sleep, I had to see how the book ended! By fifth grade I was wearing glasses. Today I need large print, so I read exclusively on my Kindle, where I can enlarge the text, or listen to audiobooks. I was happy to discover that the Kindle app on my phone also makes reading easy.
The upside: A lifetime of enjoyment! Because of eBooks, anytime is a time for reading, and I find a lot more to enjoy in books than any other form of entertainment. I'll bet you do too.

Love a series?

Here are book series that may be new and exciting for you, all free in Amazon's Kindle Unlimited. Take a look.

One of my favorite reads this month:

Jo Who Died is a comedy, a unique, entertaining story. It's not about death but about family and romantic love, told in an unusual way.
The story is narrated by Jo after her death.
She's one of eight children in the family, all called Jo or Joe except the eighth, named Jade but called Not-Jo. The names are the only improbable feature of the story, but part of the fun.
The author spins out this story with gentle humor.
If you like stories that make you smile and sometimes laugh out loud, you’ll like this one.

Historical fiction you might like:

I haven't read Guarding What Remains, but here's a quote from Kirkus reviews:
"...full of heartwarming scenes of a tightknit family who lean on one another when the world seems set against them..."
FREE audiobook: For the Love of Jamie Long. Listen here:
Thanks for reading, and thanks for your ratings and reviews!
