I think of Dell Zero as “speculative”, instead of “science fiction” or “fantasy” because though the story is set in a future time, its culture could be a logical outgrowth of our own society. So to me, Dell Zero seems realistic. There are no monsters or space wars in the story, just ordinary people and a hero or two.
This year I revised and expanded the story, and it’s currently available in Kindle format from Amazon for 99¢ The story takes place in a society that’s managed by drugs and relies on slave labor. The drugs keep people peaceful and on task and let them live forever, but they have the side-effect of taking away male and female sex characteristics.
Into this controlled system comes a homeless shepherd who is not like the others. She arrives merely because she wants to belong somewhere, but what happens next changes her and the whole society. Let me know if you like it!
